Pests and feral animals aren’t just annoying and destructive to your property.

They also pose a threat to Australia’s delicate ecosystem. Here are a few reasons why we control certain species of animals in Australia.

    • They pose a threat to native flora and fauna.

In some ecosystems, feral animals and pests consume too much of a particular type of plant, putting it in danger of extinction. Sometimes, their fondness for a particular plant means native animals that usually eat that plant can’t get enough food, throwing the biodiversity of that area out of whack. Culls are essential for allowing those native species to thrive.

    • They pose a threat to farmers.

Our Aussie farmers work tirelessly to grow the food that keeps this nation going. Certain pests consume their crops, leaving less food for us. We need to control their numbers to ensure the farmers can make an income with their crops.

    • They are introduced species.

Certain types of dogs, cats, rabbits, and pigs were introduced to Australia after colonisation, and they have flourished in the wild here. Unfortunately, this is often at the expense of native biosystems, which suffer because of the influx of introduced animals.
